Overview

Join the RAC as a Superflex Roadside Mechanic (Roadside Patrol) in Streatham. You’ll provide the adaptability our service relies on, working outside of traditional 9–5 hours to support our members when they need it most.Responsibilities

Provide roadside assistance to RAC members, diagnosing and fixing faults on-site or arranging appropriate next steps.Manage your own toolkit and van stock, document calls accurately, and keep diagnostic equipment ready for use.Collaborate with colleagues and maintain a calm, professional presence on the roadside or in residential areas.Read situations quickly to determine the right fix and contribute to a positive RAC experience for members.What you’ll get

Competitive salary: £53,720 basic salary (inclusive of London Weighting Allowance if applicable), with the opportunity to earn up to £58,000Weekly variety: On average 40 hours per week, with roster published seven days in advance and core hours confirmed three days prior.Shifts may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays (06:00–02:00).Own RAC van, fuel card, full uniform, essential tools, and diagnostic kit provided from day one.Strong base pay with potential bonuses and overtime; additional benefits outlined below in the next section.Benefits

You’re more than a mechanic. You’re a problem solver, a people person, and an ambassador for RAC. You’ll be calm under pressure, quick to connect with members, and confident in your craft. You embrace flexibility: you’ll handle fault diagnostics, tyre changes, battery work, and other roadside tasks, managing your kit and keeping your van stocked. You’ll read situations to determine the right fix and support members efficiently.What you’ll need

A Level 2 light vehicle maintenance qualification (or equivalent) with demonstrable technical, electrical, and diagnostic experienceA customer-focused approachA full UK driving licenceFlexibility to work at relatively short notice and openness to travel with overnight stays, if necessaryWhy RAC?
