Sub Agent
Sub Agent – Infrastructure & Framework Delivery
We are looking to appoint an experienced and commercially aware Sub Agent to support the successful delivery of major infrastructure projects operating under regulated frameworks, predominantly across the transport and public infrastructure sectors.
Working closely with the Principal Contractor, subcontractors and wider supply chain, you will help oversee contractual obligations, coordinate site activities and maintain strong standards of safety, quality and performance. The role will involve balancing commercial responsibilities with operational delivery, ensuring projects progress efficiently and in accordance with client, contractual and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Subcontract & Commercial Management
• Oversee the administration of subcontract agreements and supply chain contracts, ensuring alignment with relevant framework requirements and contractual terms.
• Represent the business in day-to-day contractual and operational discussions with subcontractors and supply chain partners.
• Assist with commercial negotiations covering work scopes, agreed rates, variations and changes to contract requirements.
• Track subcontractor performance against agreed programmes, key performance indicators, financial budgets and compliance obligations.
• Compile and manage valuations, applications for payment, commercial claims and associated contractual correspondence.
Project Delivery & Site Coordination
• Manage and coordinate daily activities with subcontractors to support programme milestones and ensure work is completed to the required quality standards.
• Serve as the primary contact for subcontractor enquiries, delivery concerns, disputes and issues requiring resolution or escalation.
• Participate in site progress meetings, pre-start discussions and coordination meetings with project teams, subcontractors and other relevant stakeholders.
• Work collaboratively with internal delivery teams and external partners to address operational challenges and maintain effective project progress.
Health, Safety & Regulatory Compliance
• Monitor subcontractor adherence to applicable legislation, health and safety requirements, regulatory standards and framework-specific procedures.
• Ensure project records and compliance documentation are complete, accurate and maintained, including risk assessments, method statements, competency certificates, licences and audit records.
• Provide regular updates to framework delivery management on supply chain performance, emerging risks, outstanding issues and remedial actions.
Supply Chain & Stakeholder Relationships
• Develop and maintain productive working relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, framework partners and internal project stakeholders.
• Encourage a collaborative approach across the supply chain, promoting early identification of problems, practical solutions and ongoing improvements in delivery performance.
• Support effective communication between all parties to help achieve contractual objectives and maintain consistent delivery standards.
Experience & Qualifications
• Demonstrable experience in subcontract management, commercial support, contract administration or a Sub Agent position within the construction, infrastructure or engineering industries.
• Previous involvement in major transport or public infrastructure schemes, particularly those delivered through regulated frameworks, would be advantageous.
• A sound understanding of subcontractual arrangements, commercial management principles and risk management practices.
• The ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders, manage contractual requirements and support the delivery of projects in a structured and compliance-driven environment.
What We Offer
• The chance to contribute to significant infrastructure programmes delivered across the UK.
• Experience working within established, long-term regulated frameworks and alongside strategic client organisations.
• A supportive and collaborative working environment that values high standards, safe delivery, professional development and continuous improvement.
