Student Support Assistant - Hounslow

Tradewind Recruitment is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive further education college in Hounslow, currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Student Support Assistant to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity to provide both academic and pastoral support across mainstream and alternative provision settings, helping learners overcome barriers and build confidence in their studies.

The college has a strong reputation for its inclusive ethos and supportive learning environment, delivering structured programmes tailored to students with a wide range of educational and behavioural needs. Staff work collaboratively to ensure all learners can achieve their full potential, while leadership places a strong emphasis on professional development and staff wellbeing.

The Role
In this role, you will work closely with lecturers and support staff to provide both in-class and one-to-one support. You will assist students with their academic work, behaviour management, and the development of independent learning skills. The position also involves supporting learners in alternative provision, including those who may present behavioural challenges or have been excluded from mainstream education.

Key Responsibilities:
* Provide classroom support across a range of college courses and alternative provision settings
* Support students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, including those with SEN and EHCPs
* Promote engagement, independence, and positive behaviour
* Track student progress and share feedback with teaching staff
* Adhere to safeguarding policies and college procedures at all times
* Help maintain a structured, safe, and supportive learning environment across multiple sites, including Isleworth and Feltham

Requirements:
* Essential: Previous UK-based experience in a school, college, alternative provision, or youth work setting (applications without this cannot be considered)
* Strong behaviour management skills and experience supporting students with diverse needs
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* A professional, reliable, and proactive approach
* Right to work in the UK and an enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)

Working Pattern:
* Monday: 09:00 - 15:20 (Isleworth)
* Tuesday: 10:00 - 15:20 (Isleworth)
* Wednesday: 10:45 - 14:15 (Feltham Skills Centre)
* Thursday: 10:00 - 15:20
* Full-time, term-time hours
