An established and market-leading provider of temporary roofing, encapsulation and construction systems is looking to appoint an experienced Engineering Manager / Team Leader to lead and develop its engineering function.
This is a technically varied role combining structural design, temporary works, product development, technical leadership and team management. The successful candidate will take responsibility for the technical delivery of products and project-specific installations, while mentoring a team of technicians and supporting continued growth within the engineering department.
The business forms part of a larger international group while retaining a close-knit, collaborative working environment, offering the successful candidate significant autonomy and the opportunity to influence both the engineering team and future product development..

Engineering Manager Job Overview
- Lead, mentor and provide technical guidance to a team of engineering technicians.
- Take responsibility for the design, analysis and verification of products and project installations.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant technical, structural and safety standards.
- Provide technical support and advice to internal teams, clients, suppliers and external checking authorities.
- Oversee the development and introduction of new products.
- Maintain awareness of current British and International Standards and ensure continued technical compliance.
- Work closely with suppliers, external consultants and other group businesses to develop and improve products.
- Support the continued growth of the engineering department, including interviewing and recruiting additional team members.
- Attend client meetings, supplier meetings, conferences and site visits where required.
- Represent the engineering function on projects across the UK and occasionally internationally.
Engineering Manager Job Requirements
- Strong background within structural engineering, temporary works, non-mechanical temporary works, scaffolding, construction systems or a closely related discipline.
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- Ideally Chartered Engineer - CEng / MIStructE / MICE or working at an equivalent professional level.
- Strong structural design and analysis knowledge.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and structural analysis software.
- Practical understanding of construction, scaffolding and temporary works.
- Previous experience managing, mentoring or developing engineers / technicians.
- Comfortable delegating work and taking overall responsibility for technical output.
- Good commercial awareness and ability to balance technical requirements with project and customer needs.
- Strong client-facing and communication skills.
- Eligible to live and work in the UK.
