Structural Engineer
Our client, a leading consultancy in the infrastructure and energy sectors, is currently seeking a Structural Engineer to join their team in a permanent role focusing on the power industry. This is an exciting opportunity to work on projects within the power, energy, and rail sectors, including substation buildings, transformer foundations, and cable management systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake civil/structural design for projects within power, energy, and rail sectors.
- Ensure compliance with relevant design standards, including Eurocodes, BS EN, National Grid or DNO specifications, Network Rail, and London Underground standards.
- Manage calculations, drawings, specifications, and design deliverables prepared by the team.
- Conduct design reviews, independent checks, and assurance activities to maintain quality and safety standards.
- Consider Health & Safety and CDM requirements at all stages of the design process to minimise risk during construction.
- Be a key member of structural design teams through all project stages-from feasibility and concept design to detailed engineering and construction support.
- Work collaboratively with civil, geotechnical, and electrical engineers to deliver integrated design solutions.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and key stakeholders.
Job Requirements:
- Experience in structural design, particularly with reinforced concrete and civil design engineering.
- Experience in a design consultancy, working towards chartership with the ICE or IStructE.
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (BEng/MEng).
- Strong knowledge of UK design codes, standards, and industry specifications.
- Proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g., Tekla TEDDS, Robot).
- Technically excellent, with a pragmatic, solution-focused approach.
- Confident communicator with the ability to engage clients and guide project teams.
- Having a current clean UK driving license for occasional site visits is desirable.
