We are working with a global Software, Systems & Engineering company in the Defence Sector, supporting them with appointing a Structural Engineer. You’ll be working with an innovative team utilising state-of-the-art technology to deliver constrained hydrodynamic model tests of surface ships, submarines, offshore structures, and renewable energy devices.
Salary: circa £50k per annum
Location: Gosport, near Plymouth- hybrid (2-3 times at the site; 2-3 times WFH)
Working Hours: 37hrs per week
Requirements: eligible for SC clearance, sole or dual UK national
Key responsibilities:
- Work with the Engineering and Project Management community to undertake the work within the agreed quality, timescale and budget
- Use your skills and knowledge to develop the capabilities in the areas you are working in; mentor others to improve the knowledge of your areas of expertise within the wider engineering and technical communities
- Actively participate and work with other functions (e.g. Safety Engineering) to deliver the technical programme of work
- Give technical presentations and talk knowledgably about the work conducted in external forums, including conferences and in customer meetings
- Ensure projects you are responsible for are conducted in a safe manner, highlighting hazards and potentially unsafe practices and providing potential options to reduce the risk so that it is as low as responsibly practicable
- Ensure that Governance is applied consistently across the projects where you are involved; act as a peer reviewer for other projects where suitable
Essential experience of the Structural Engineer:
If you have experience with at least one of the following, you will be considered for this role:
- Finite Element Analysis of structures and systems
- Experience of composite materials, design and manufacturing
- Experience of design and analysis of composite structures
- Experience of analytical analysis of composite structures and failure
- Knowledge of different composite manufacturing techniques
- Proficient in FEA software ideally Abaqus
- Proficient in CAD software
