Client Local Authority in EalingJob Title Structural Engineer Pay Rate Paying upwards from 41.97 an hour UMBRELLAHours 4 days per week - 28 hoursDuration Initial 3 month contractLocation HYBRID WORKING- 2 days on site in EalingDescription Purpose of the RoleAct as the Council''s specialist Structural Engineer, supporting Building Control by ensuring building designs and construction comply with Building Regulations and structural safety requirements. The role provides expert technical advice, assesses structural proposals, supports enforcement activities, and responds to dangerous structures and emergency situations.Key ResponsibilitiesReview and assess structural designs, calculations, and specifications for compliance with Building Regulations, British Standards, and Eurocodes. Undertake site inspections, particularly for complex structural works. Identify structural risks, defects, and non-compliance, recommending corrective actions. Support Building Control functions including plan checking, enforcement, and regulatory decisions. Investigate dangerous structures following incidents such as fire, impact, or collapse. Participate in emergency and out-of-hours response arrangements. Provide specialist advice to internal teams, developers, consultants, contractors, and regulators. Prepare technical reports, structural surveys, and maintain accurate records. Mentor colleagues and contribute to service improvements and policy development.
