We're hiring for a Stress Engineer.

Our client, a cutting-edge aerospace company with four advanced manufacturing sites worldwide, is seeking a Stress Engineer to join their growing team in Farnborough. With a strong focus on design, R&D, and manufacturing, their UK facility (home to 180 employees) plays a key role in developing world-class sensor technologies for extreme environments—particularly gas turbine engines used in aviation and beyond.

What You’ll Do

  • Analyse structural integrity of high-performance components using FEA tools and hand calculations

  • Perform stress and mechanical tests to ensure products meet demanding aerospace requirements

  • Evaluate fatigue life and durability under dynamic loads

  • Collaborate with design, project, and manufacturing teams to drive product performance and quality

  • Conduct failure investigations and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

  • Prepare technical reports and deliver presentations to key stakeholders

  • Participate in qualification and certification activities

  • Apply best practices in risk assessment, DFMEA, and design validation

What You Bring

Essential:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Engineering, Physics, or related field

  • Strong background in structural mechanics, stress analysis, and materials testing

  • Experience with FEA software (e.g. Creo Simulate), CAD tools (e.g. Creo, SolidWorks)

  • Proficiency in structural (linear static/dynamic), vibration, and thermal analysis

  • Deep knowledge of engineering codes, design safety factors, and industry standards

  • Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills

  • Analytical mindset, excellent documentation, and clear communication skills

  • Ability to prioritise in a fast-paced, high-volume environment

Desirable:

  • Experience in aerospace or regulated industries

  • Familiarity with Siemens NX, TeamCenter, and NPI phase-gate processes

  • Knowledge of sensor design, design for manufacture/assembly

  • Continuous improvement mindset and interest in new analysis methodologies
