Street Pride Operatives

Job Purpose

We are seeking Street Pride Operatives to support the maintenance and improvement of Coventry’s streets, neighbourhoods, parks, and open spaces. This role involves a combination of driving duties and hands-on environmental and grounds maintenance work to ensure public spaces are clean, safe, and well-presented.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes, including mechanical pavement sweepers and grass-cutting machinery
• Carry out general street cleansing duties such as:
  • Emptying litter bins and dog waste bins
  • Removing graffiti, fly posting, and fly tipping
  • Clearing spillages, hazardous objects (e.g. needles), and deceased animals
  • Sweeping pavements and public areas
• Perform grounds maintenance tasks including:
  • Grass cutting, strimming, and edging
  • Hedge trimming and shrub bed maintenance
  • Basic horticultural and tree maintenance tasks

Requirements

• Valid C1 Driving Licence (essential)
• Valid CPC qualification (essential)
• Previous experience in street cleansing, grounds maintenance, or similar work (desirable)
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Good understanding of health & safety practices
• Ability to work as part of a team and independently
