Street Lighting Engineer
Location: Nottingham
Rate: £40-£50 per hour (Umbrella PAYE)
Contract: Initial 6-month contract with the possibility of extension
Working Arrangements: Hybrid working, with office attendance approximately 1 day per week
Exciting Opportunity for a Street Lighting Engineer in Nottingham
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Street Lighting Engineer to join a Local Authority team in Nottingham.
This is a hands-on contract-management role rather than a design position. The successful candidate will be expected to hit the ground running, overseeing street-lighting contracts, supporting planning and Section 38 matters, and ensuring all associated administration and delivery requirements are managed effectively.
The main duties of the Street Lighting Engineer include:
·Managing and overseeing street-lighting contracts and contractor performance.
·Supporting Section 38 agreements and providing street-lighting input into new developments.
·Reviewing planning applications and providing technical street-lighting advice.
·Overseeing contract administration, documentation, records and approvals.
·Monitoring programme, quality, cost, compliance and health and safety performance.
·Liaising with developers, contractors, planning teams, highways officers and other stakeholders.
·Ensuring works are delivered in accordance with relevant specifications, standards and contractual requirements.
·Resolving technical and contractual issues to keep schemes progressing.
The Street Lighting Engineer will have key experience in:
·Hands-on street-lighting contract management within a Local Authority or similar environment.
·Managing PFI street-lighting contracts or working within a PFI delivery environment.
·Section 38 agreements, planning applications and development-control processes.
·Overseeing contractors, administration and the delivery of street-lighting works.
·Working with developers, consultants, contractors and internal council teams.
·Strong knowledge of relevant street-lighting standards, specifications and legislation.
·The ability to manage their own workload and add value immediately with minimal supervision.
·Previous Local Authority experience is essential.
·Professional registration as EngTech or IEng is required.
