Stores Coordinator (S1A)

Location: Northam Traincare Facility

Pay Rate: -13.59 per hour

Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am - 3:00pm

Contract: Full-time, Temporary (6 months, possibility of extension)

Start Requirements: No medical or Drug & Alcohol test required prior to start

Driving Requirement: Full UK Driving Licence essential (company van provided)

About the Role

We are currently recruiting for a Stores Coordinator to join a busy rail maintenance operation based at Northam Traincare Facility. This is a hands-on role responsible for ensuring materials, tools and consumables are available when needed to support train maintenance and production activities.

The successful candidate will play a key role in managing stock, coordinating deliveries, maintaining accurate inventory records and transporting materials between company sites and suppliers. Regular travel will be required, with the furthest delivery location typically being Clapham.

This position would suit someone with previous warehouse, stores or logistics experience who enjoys a varied role combining stock control, material handling and driving responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Stores & Inventory Management

• Receive, inspect and book in deliveries.
• Maintain accurate stock and inventory records.
• Carry out regular stock counts and cycle counts.
• Issue materials, tools and consumables to operational teams.
• Monitor stock levels and order stores consumables when required.
• Ensure all items are correctly labelled, stored and easily accessible.
• Report damaged, defective or incorrect deliveries.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping and organisation within the stores area.
• Ensure stores security procedures are followed at all times.

Logistics & Deliveries

• Pick, pack and prepare materials for operational requirements.
• Deliver materials between company sites and suppliers using a company van.
• Load and unload vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Arrange transport requests and coordinate material movements.
• Ensure materials reach the correct location within required timescales.
• Carry out regular checks on equipment and storage areas.
• Identify and report any storage or material handling issues.

What We''re Looking For

Essential

• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Basic computer skills and confidence using computer systems.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to work accurately in a fast-paced stores or logistics environment.

Desirable

• Previous Stores, Warehouse or Logistics experience.
• Experience using stock control or inventory management systems.
• Forklift Truck (FLT) licence or FLT experience.
• Basic engineering or technical knowledge.
• Experience within rail, manufacturing, engineering or maintenance environments.
