Do you want to play a key role in improving the quality, safety, and sustainability of council housing? We''re looking for a Housing Surveyor to join our team and deliver integrated stock condition and compliance surveys across the council''s housing portfolio.

What you''ll be doing
- Carrying out comprehensive property surveys that capture stock condition, Decent Homes standards, HHSRS hazards, damp & mould assessments, EPC/RdSAP data, and retrofit potential.
- Recording accurate, factual information using structured survey templates and handheld devices.
- Collecting photographic evidence (including key rooms, systems, and defects) to support audit and compliance requirements.
- Engaging with tenants, explaining the purpose of your visit, and ensuring they feel informed and respected.
- Uploading completed surveys promptly into the asset management system to support investment planning and regulatory reporting.
- Supporting the council''s responsibilities under Awaab''s Law, ensuring timely and accurate recording of damp, mould, and housing hazards.
- Experience in housing, building surveying, property maintenance, or a related technical field.
- Strong understanding of construction, property defects, and compliance standards within social housing.
- Awareness of frameworks such as Decent Homes Standard, HHSRS, PAS 2035, and EPC/RdSAP (training provided).
- Ability to use survey tools, mobile devices, and asset management software confidently.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to record factual information consistently.
- Strong communication skills, with a tenant-focused approach.
- Full driving licence and willingness to travel across the council area.
