Search Consultancy is looking for a skilled Steel Fixer to join our busy construction and civils teams across Sunderland. We are partnering with leading reinforced concrete (RC) frame contractors and major infrastructure developers who require precision-focused "reinforcement" experts capable of reading complex schedules and securing structures at a fast pace.

If you are a Steel Fixer who thrives in a high-volume environment and can move seamlessly from tying heavy rebar for foundations to positioning intricate mesh for slabs and columns, we have immediate starts and long-term runs of work available now.

The Role

* Positioning & Securing: Expertly placing and tying steel rebar or mesh to reinforce concrete structures according to specific design layouts.
* Blueprint Interpretation: Reading and interpreting structural drawings and bending schedules to ensure steel is placed with absolute accuracy.
* Cutting & Bending: Utilizing manual and mechanical tools to cut and bend steel bars to the required lengths and shapes on-site.
* Fixing Techniques: Using various tying wire methods (e.g., nips/pliers) to secure steel reinforcement, ensuring it remains stable during the concrete pour.
* Productivity Driven: We need Steel Fixers used to the speed of major commercial, industrial, or civil engineering projects who can maintain high output while ensuring structural integrity.

Requirements
* CSCS Card: A valid Blue or Gold card is mandatory.
* Experience: Proven track record in steel fixing on busy RC frame or civil engineering sites.
* Physical Fitness: Must be capable of heavy lifting, bending, and staying active throughout the shift in all weather conditions.
* Tools & PPE: Must have your own steel fixing tools (nips, belt, tape) and standard 5-point PPE.
* Reliability: A strong work ethic and a "can-do" attitude are essential for keeping the reinforcement phase on schedule.
* Right to Work: Must have a valid right to work in the UK.
