We are searching for Band 5Registered Mental Health or Learning Disability Nurses to join us on Beech Wardbased in Torquay, Torbay Hospital. Beech ward is a 16 bedded inpatient MentalHealth Ward that supports primarily older adults with functional mental healthdifficulties.We warmly welcome Band 5 Registered Mental Health Nurses who arecompleting their nursing preceptorship to apply for this role. To assess care needs, develop,implement and evaluate individual care plans.To provide holistic, recoveryfocused and compassionate care to people who use our services.To provide named nurse role topeople who use our service.To promote and improve quality ofservice provided.To manage the unit in the absenceof Ward Manager / Team LeaderTo participate in the internalrotation system including weekend workingTo be a proactive, skilled memberof the ward Multi-Disciplinary teamTo have knowledge and experienceof providing individual and group clinical/therapy work.To demonstrate effectiveleadership and assist with providing advice and guidance to non-qualified staffand students.To be responsible for the provisionand maintenance of effective therapeutic relationships, which at all timesacknowledges the rights, personal dignity and encourages opportunity for growthand development of the person using this service.About us

Experience

Experience of Adult and/or Older Persons mental health nursing and the nursing processExcellent verbal and written skills and excellent IT skills.Ability to form positive therapeutic relationships with service users, carers and other professional bodies.Ability to engage in and lead (when required) MDT meetingsAbility to assess situations, make decisions, co-ordinate and organise appropriate responses.Have an awareness and ability to maintain personal boundaries.Able to risk assessTo be able to plan and implement all aspects of nursing skills.To demonstrate effective leadership skills, promote effective role model across the ward environment.To be able to work on the internal ward shift rotation which includes night dutiesTo work to the Trust Data Protection and Confidentiality guidance/policyBe able to work as part of a team.Work as an effective role model.Promote effective service delivery and future changes in a positive wayWillingness to develop selfMulti-Disciplinary WorkingUnderstanding of Recovery principles in Mental HealthKnowledge and understanding of both adult and childrens safeguarding guidanceKnowledge

Knowledge of ordering, storing and administering required medicationsKnowledge of possible side effects of medicationKnowledge of the Mental Health Act 1987 (including updates)Knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty safeguardsQualifications

RMN / Registered Nurse (Mental Health) or RNLD / Registered Nurse (Learning Disabilities) with current registration.Any further learning relevant to the role.Disclosure and Barring Service Check
