An exciting opportunity has arisen to employ a dynamic, forward-thinking individual as a Band 5 Staff Nurse on Horder Ward. Horder Ward is a 12-bedded acute oncology ward caring for patients undergoing surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy. The ward also cares for palliative patients with complex symptom control and psychological needs.We are looking for a caring, compassionate, and competent nurse with a special interest in palliative care. To plan, document, deliver, and evaluate evidence-based nursing care for patients responsibly and efficiently, in conjunction with the shift co-ordinator.To develop a greater awareness and understanding of the needs of patients with cancer and the different treatment modalities administered within the unit.To understand the roles and responsibilities involved in managing a shift, under the guidance of the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse.The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust is a world-leading cancer centre dedicated to providing the best cancer care and advancing cancer research. Be aware of side effects of treatments and adopt a problem-solving approach to minimize adverse reactions.Participate in direct delivery of skilled nursing care, including wound dressings, drain removal, and urinary catheter insertion, under supervision until competent.Develop awareness of protocols for patients undergoing clinical trials.Follow hospital policies and collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure compliance.Be rostered to care for patients over a 24-hour period.Handle body fluids, odours, and infections safely, adhering to PPE and infection control policies.Assist in collecting diagnostic samples, such as urine and sputum.This advert closes on Thursday, 21 August ..... full job details .....
