This is an exciting opportunity for an Engineer to support a growing pharmaceutical manufacturing organization in the Oxford area of the UK. The Life Sciences Engineer will perform and document scheduled maintenance and repair services on research and manufacturing equipment. This includes preventative maintenance, calibration, and validation of equipment ranging from simple devices such as water purification, scales/balances, centrifuges, freezers/LN2 storage units/refrigerators, incubators, and humidity chambers. This role will also have exposure to chromatography machines (HPLC/Mass Spec), liquid handlers, thermocyclers, and automation platforms.What you will do
Performs planned maintenance, repairs, and other verification/qualification services on a variety of laboratory multi-vendor instrumentsProvides a high level of customer service throughout the maintenance and repair cycleCommunicates with equipment end users regularly to discuss the work performed and the resultsEngages with customers and provides basic instrument services in a professional and timely mannerDiagnoses errors or technical problems, determines proper solutionsCollaborates with internal partners to resolve customer issues and improve processesProvides accurate and timely completion of service reports, expense reports and other administrative tasksCommunicates regularly and effectively with leadershipEscalates to leadership challenging service events in an efficient manner and develops a plan for resolutionPerforms other duties as assigned by your Manager, including escorting vendors and management of CMMSQualifications
Laboratory, electronic, mechanical technician or related experience requiredExperience with life science laboratory equipment (water purification, scales/balances, centrifuges, freezers/LN2 storage units/refrigerators, incubators, and humidity chambers, or equivalent instruments) preferredUnderstanding of metrology/calibration preferredExperience working in a GxP regulated environment preferredComputer savvy with skills in MS Office suite (MS Word, MS Excel)High level attention to detailSelf-directed / efficient with time management skillsBasic hands-on mechanical skillsEducation/Special Training
