Are you an experienced Sprinkler Design Engineer looking for your next opportunity?
We are looking for an experienced Sprinkler Design Engineer to join the Birmingham regional office, working as part of a design team delivering sprinkler systems across a range of sectors and Main Contract projects.
You will be responsible for developing sprinkler designs from initial concept through to final scheme, working closely with clients, consultants, contractors and other trades to ensure projects are delivered to the required standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop sprinkler system designs through coordination with clients, consultants, contractors and other trades.
- Prepare detailed working drawings in line with relevant design codes and standards.
- Carry out hydraulic calculations and establish appropriate pipe sizes.
- Monitor design programmes against construction programmes and project specifications.
- Obtain the information required to complete fully designed working drawings.
- Attend site meetings where design matters are being discussed.
- Produce and issue completion documentation and certification.
- Prepare material schedules for procurement, estimating and variations.
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors regarding materials and procurement.
- Order materials and monitor equipment levels where required.
- Work closely with Project and Design Managers to ensure projects progress effectively.
- Maintain a high standard of technical and commercial accuracy.
- Ensure all company policies, procedures and relevant industry standards are followed.
- Strong experience in a sprinkler design engineering role.
- Comprehensive knowledge of LPC and BS EN 12845 standards.
- LPCB Intermediate and Full Hydraulic Calculation qualifications would be highly desirable.
- Strong AutoCAD experience; Revit 3D experience would be advantageous.
- Experience with hydraulic calculation software, ideally Canute.
- Knowledge of Factory Mutual (FM) Standards.
- Knowledge of NFPA standards would be highly desirable.
- HND or Degree in an engineering, construction or design-related discipline would be advantageous.
- Experience managing, developing or mentoring team members.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent organisation and time-management skills.
- A proactive, problem-solving approach with a strong can-do attitude.
- Ability to work independently and manage changing priorities.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Flexibility to travel and occasionally stay away from home.
