What you’ll doPlan and deliver learning
Design and deliver inclusive, high-quality lessons.
Create engaging learning materials tailored to diverse learner needs.
Provide clear, constructive feedback to support learner progress.
Support learner development
Guide academic and personal development through tutorials and pastoral care.
Maintain accurate records of learner progress and engagement.
Enhance curriculum and quality
Keep course content current and aligned with industry standards.
Contribute to curriculum development and quality assurance processes.
Collaborate and uphold standards
Work with colleagues and external partners to enrich the learner experience.
Promote and uphold safeguarding, equality, and health and safety policies.
You’ll need:
A relevant subject qualification (e.g. degree or equivalent).
A recognised teaching qualification.
Level 2 English and Maths (GCSE grade C/4 or equivalent).
The ability to plan and deliver effective, inclusive teaching for diverse learners.
Knowledge of subject-specific pedagogy and current FE teaching practices.
Clear communication and strong organisational skills.
Confidence using digital tools to support learning.
A commitment to safeguarding, equality, and ongoing professional development.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering and assessing high-quality programmes within Newcastle College’s further education Sport and Uniformed Public Services provision.
This includes teaching, assessment, and programme administration to ensure effective course management. A key focus will be supporting learners in developing employability skills, promoting independence, and preparing them for progression into higher education, apprenticeships, or employment.
The role will primarily focus on Level 2 Sport and Uniformed Public Services pathways. Applicants should have a strong vocational background in the sport and active leisure industry or uniformed public services, along with proven experience in helping learners develop technical and employability skills.
You will hold an honours degree (Level 6) or an industry-recognised qualification in a related field, plus a post-16 teaching qualification (or be willing to achieve this within an agreed timeframe). Level 2 English and maths are essential, or candidates must be prepared to work towards them.
Experience in programme leadership within FE, HE, or apprenticeships is desirable, as is knowledge of current industry practices. You should also have proven success in designing and delivering strategies that support learners with additional needs or barriers to learning. Strong organisational skills, excellent communication, and confidence with IT systems and VLEs are essential. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends may be required to meet curriculum demands.
