Specialist PMLD SEND Teacher
to work
one-to-one
with a young person (aged 14) with complex PMLD needs, supported by a dedicated multidisciplinary team of therapists and health professionals. Complex PMLD with sensory processing challengesVisually and hearing impairedNon-verbal; communicates using PECS and MakatonTube-fed with additional health considerations (immune system compromised – staff wear masks or face shields)A quick and confident mover indoors, wheelchair-assisted outside to reduce sensory overload and ensure safetyThrives in safe, familiar environments where she can exploreLoves music, movement, and dancing – a truly joyful personalitySupport Network
You’ll collaborate with a strong multi-disciplinary team, including:Occupational TherapistPhysiotherapistSpeech and Language Therapist (AAC focus)Music TherapistVisual and Hearing SpecialistSpecialist NurseThe Role
25 teaching hours per week , plus
3 hours PPA
Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 14:00
Education split: approximately
40% structured learning / 60% outdoor and sensory-based activities
Work closely with the family and therapy team to ensure an integrated, holistic approach
Create a safe, engaging, and nurturing atmosphere that values both education and wellbeing
About You
We are looking for someone who:Has a passion for working with young people with PMLD and would consider it a privilege to teach and guide this young person.
Experience teaching young people with PMLD and complex SEND needs
Understands the importance of sensory-based learning and communication strategies (PECS, Makaton, AAC)
Can balance structure with flexibility, adapting to the child’s needs each day
Brings genuine warmth, patience, and creativity to their practice
Is confident working collaboratively with therapists, families, and other professionals
Is motivated by creating an environment where joy, learning, and progress come together
