We are looking for a Specialist SEMH Teacher to join a supportive and inclusive educational setting, working with pupils who experience Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.

This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who wants to move beyond traditional classroom teaching and make a genuine, lasting difference to young people''s lives.

The Role
As a Specialist SEMH Teacher, you will deliver engaging and accessible lessons tailored to the individual needs, abilities and interests of your pupils.

You will create a calm, structured and supportive classroom environment where students feel safe, valued and motivated to learn.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons.
  • Supporting pupils with a range of SEMH and behavioural needs.
  • Building positive, trusting relationships with students.
  • Creating a calm, consistent and nurturing learning environment.
  • Using creative approaches to re-engage pupils with education.
  • Supporting students to develop confidence, resilience and independence.
  • Managing behaviour positively and consistently.
  • Identifying barriers to learning and adapting your approach accordingly.
  • Monitoring progress and setting appropriate learning goals.
  • Working closely with teaching assistants, pastoral teams, SENCOs and other professionals.
  • Communicating effectively with parents, carers and wider support networks where appropriate.
  • Supporting pupils to develop the skills they need for their future education, employment and independence.


About You
We''re looking for a teacher who is:

  • Passionate about supporting young people with SEMH needs.
  • Patient, empathetic and emotionally resilient.
  • Confident managing challenging behaviour in a positive and supportive way.
  • Able to build strong relationships with pupils who may have previously struggled within education.
  • Creative and adaptable in their teaching approach.
  • Consistent, calm and confident when dealing with challenging situations.
  • Committed to inclusion and improving outcomes for every learner.
  • A strong communicator who enjoys working collaboratively.
  • Motivated by seeing progress, even when it comes in small steps.
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service or the willingness to obtain one


Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an appropriate teaching qualification is essential.

Experience working with SEMH, SEND, alternative provision, behaviour or pastoral support would be highly advantageous.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.

Spencer Clarke Group work with a variety of schools covering a wide geographical area. We deal with teaching placements at Primary, Secondary, Special Education needs and college level as well as support staff positions also within these.
