£372.03 per day PAYE of  £500 per day limited paid via umbrella company inside IR35

Our client is looking for an experienced Place Project Manager

Largely remote but occasional visits to the office to liaise with the team or visit site. The office would be either Brentwood or Rochford.

Project manager to work with planning, economic growth and climate teams within the Place directorate to work on strategic project work over and above the day to day. Type of projects to include;

Providing project support, project management of internal projects relating to IT, processes, non specialist topics, providing risk and assurance, collecting data, process reviews to make more efficient use of resources

Potential for some small scale capital projects to be included

The Place Directorate works across the areas of Planning Development Management, Strategic Planning,  Economic Growth and Climate and Sustainability. This role will work across all those departments, working with their respective corporate managers and teams and reporting to the Director of Place.

The post holder is expected to manage a range of time limited projects on behalf of the services within the Place Directorate. The type of projects could include;

• Supporting projects by developing, monitoring and managing project plans including timescales, milestones and deliverables. Liaison with consultants and other stakeholders to ensure milestones are met.
• Supporting projects and the service by developing, monitoring and managing risk and quality assurance
• Setting up data and quality assurance processes for day to day work and individual projects
• To procure, appoint and manage consultants undertaking technical projects for the services
• To undertake stakeholder, Councillor or committee engagement on key projects and messages.
• Undertake reviews of processes to ensure the most efficient use of staff and resources across the teams
• Review and recommend changes to policies, strategies and other procedures
• Small scale capital projects such as the installation of public realm facilities, or energy generation.

In all cases the following skills should be utilised;

Projects should be managed to ensure cost effective use of Council resources and report on the financial performance

Developing excellent relationships with internal teams, including internal stakeholders outside of the Place Directorate.

Managing positive relationships with Councillors or other stakeholders as required on a project by project basis.

Please note it is not a requirement to be a qualified planner or technical specialist to undertake the role, however experience in a related field would be useful.
