We cover all disciplines in pathology including allergy, biochemistry and endocrinology, haematology and blood transfusion, histopathology and cytology, immunology, and microbiology and serology, with each laboratory equipped with the best available analytical instrumentation.Duties and responsibilities
Speedy and accurate processing of samplesInterpretation, validation and timely reporting of resultsMonitor and enter results from referral laboratoriesParticipate in the Haematology/multi-disciplinary Week End RotaParticipate in the multi-disciplinary Night Shift Rota where requiredComplete External Quality ControlDeal with telephone enquiresAssist Section Leader and BMS 3 / 2 with the day to day running of Haematology sectionEnsure equipment in Haematology working correctlyEnsure internal and external quality schemes are performedLiaise and assist specimen Reception and other sections within the laboratoryAdhere to Health and Safety policiesFollow HCA policies and proceduresFollow SOPs and in accordance with manufacturers operating instructionsStock control and rotationIdentify own training and development needs and undertake training/education as required. Achieve competence in the areas outlined in the training manual. Attend HCA mandatory trainingMaintain professional development records in compliance with IBMS and HCPC requirements. Treat all users of the service in an efficient and courteous manner and to ensure that all enquiries that cannot be dealt with directly are passed on to an appropriate senior member of the Pathology department.What you will bring
Experience working as a Biomedical Scientist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and appropriate laboratory experience.Hold evidence of, and continue to demonstrate continual personal/professional development ensuring up-to-date knowledge and working to high professional standards.Demonstrate a positive and responsive attitude.Adhere to, and work in accordance with all appropriate guidelines and policies.Why HCA UK
