Special Needs Teaching Assistant

Special Needs Teaching Assistant required to support two Year 1 students with ASD. The role involves providing 1:1 support to two children across the school day.

Morning-:-Working-with-a-child-who-requires-a-proactive,-energetic-and-engaging approach to help them stay focused an on task. The successful candidate will use creativity, patience and positivity to make learning enjoyable and accessible.

Afternoon-:-Working-witha-child-who-would-benefit-from-calm,-consistent-support-and somebody who-can-recognise-triggers,-understand-behavioural-traits-linked-to-ASD, and able to implement strategies to maintain engagement and emottional regulation.

Responsibilities:

• Provide-1-1-support-to-two-children-with-ASD.
• Implement-individual-education-plans-(IEPs)-and-behaviour-support strategies.
• Support-pupils-with-communication,-social-interaction,-and-emotional regulation.
• Adapt-classroom-activities-to-meet-individual-learning-needs.
• Work-closely-with-the-class-teacher,-SENCO,-and-external-professionals.
• Promote-inclusion-and-encourage-independence.

Requirements:

• Experience-supporting-children-ASD.
• Understanding of strategies such as visula timetables, PECS or sensory regulation approaches.
• Patience,-empathy,-and-strong-communication-skills.
• Ability-to-work-independently-and-as-part-of-a-team.
• L2/L3-Teaching-Assistant,-Childcare-or-SEND-qualification.
