Special Needs Teaching Assistant

Term Time Teachers are working with special educational needs schools based in Crowborough who require a special needs teaching assistant. Your role as a special needs teaching assistant will include supporting children with special educational needs, particularly those with Autism, complex learning needs, profound and multiple learning difficulties, severe and moderate learning difficulties.

As a special needs teaching Assistant, you will be required to assist children with their learning and development. You''ll help to provide a positive and inclusive learning environment where students can develop their confidence and academic skills.

As a special needs teaching assistant, you will assist a range of students of primary and secondary ages with a variety of individual needs and promote a positive attitude whilst also being able to manage challenging behaviour.

Your key responsibilities as a Special Needs Teaching Assistant include:

• Patience and understanding towards children''s diverse needs.
• Strong communication skills to effectively engage with students and staff.
• Assist students with SEN and additional needs.
• Encourage participation of all pupils in learning and extracurricular activities.
• Ensure the classroom and equipment are kept in a safe and tidy condition.
• Be able to remain calm and composed if presented with challenging behaviour.
• Safeguard and promote the welfare of pupils
• Demonstrate a positive attitude.

Requirements:

• Have previous experience either on a personal or professional level
• Have an enhanced DBS certificate on the update service or be happy to apply.
• Hold the Right to Work in the UK.
• Be able to provide two references within the last 2 years.
• Relevant qualifications in education are advantageous but not essential
