About the candidate: Successful Special Needs Teaching Assistant will ideally need to have previous experience, however this is not compulsory. You must be passionate about education Must be able to think on the spot Be resilient, patient, caring and empathetic About the school: This is an East Sussex County Council maintained special school catering to approximately 155 children aged 4-19 with a variety of complex learning needs, including moderate, severe, or profound and multiple learning difficulties. Some students also have additional physical and/or sensory impairments, including autism. Each child has an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP), which is tailored to their specific needs and curriculum-based targets. The school is committed to promoting independence and challenging students to achieve their best. The staff are highly trained to support a wide range of needs, and the school benefits from regular input from Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, and Occupational Therapists through the Children''s Integrated Therapy and Equipment Service (CITEs) within Kent NHS, commissioned by the local authority. Additionally, a Special Schools Nursing Sister from East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust is on hand to support the health and wellbeing of the students.
