NextGen teachers are currently working with a private specialist provision based in Huddersfield (Kirklees) who are currently looking for a SEN and SEMH Teacher for a Year 10 class starting in September 2025. The ideal candidate will be an outstanding and dedicated SEN/SEMH Secondary Teacher who will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, personalised learning to students who require additional support to thrive both academically and emotionally.
The school is a specialist provision that caters for pupils with a range of SEN and SEMH needs, offering a nurturing and structured environment where every child is valued and encouraged to achieve their potential. The school prides itself on small class sizes, strong pastoral support, and a staff team committed to making a real difference.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to the individual needs of Year 10 students
- Foster a positive and supportive classroom environment
- Work closely with the SENCO and pastoral team to implement EHCP strategies
- Use a trauma-informed approach to manage behaviour and build trust with pupils
- Monitor and report on student progress, adapting strategies where necessary
- Promote a culture of high expectations, respect, and achievement
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS
- Experience working with students with SEMH needs (desirable but not essential)
- Excellent classroom management and behaviour de-escalation techniques
- Empathetic, patient, and committed to inclusive practice
- Able to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
- Passionate about supporting vulnerable young people to achieve their best
