Spare Parts Technician - Spider is advertising on behalf of SP Industries, who are looking for a Spare Parts Technician to join their team at their Ipswich, Suffolk facility. This is a key, 100% factory-based role supporting service operations and customer demand.

About the role:

As a Spare Parts Technician, you will be responsible for assembling, testing and kitting spare parts, including mechanical and electrical sub-systems. You will also support continuous improvement activities to help maintain efficient, high-quality processes.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assembling and testing mechanical and electrical spare parts and sub-systems
• Creating some legacy spare parts and ensuring assemblies meet quality and safety standards
• Kitting parts to meet customer and service team requirements
• Maintaining accurate records in line with QMS ISO 9001 standards
• Supporting Kanban management, work instruction optimisation and other continuous improvement activities
• Maintaining high housekeeping and 5S standards
• Providing feedback on processes and improvement opportunities

Occasionally, you may support field service engineers or depot repair teams. Flexibility to assist other departments and work overtime at short notice may also be required to meet customer commitments.

About you:

You will have strong practical skills and mechanical aptitude, with excellent attention to quality and detail. You’ll be computer literate, comfortable working with data, records and inventory systems, and able to communicate effectively in English.

You’ll be collaborative, flexible and able to multitask and adapt to changing requirements.

Experience in mechanical/electrical assembly, light engineering, manufacturing, spare parts kitting or inventory management would be advantageous. Exposure to lean manufacturing, manual handling, Health & Safety or reading engineering drawings would also be beneficial.

An HND or higher in mechanical/electrical applications and manual lifting training are desirable but not essential, as relevant experience will be considered and training provided.

The role requires someone physically fit who can follow all company Health & Safety, PPE and ESD procedures, including wearing safety shoes on the shop floor.
