PPM Recruitment is currently recruiting for an experienced Sous Chef to join a professional catering operation in Royston.

This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate and motivated chef looking for a permanent position, supporting the Head Chef and Senior Sous Chef in delivering high-quality food and maintaining excellent kitchen standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Head Chef and Senior Sous Chef with the day-to-day running of the kitchen.

• Prepare, cook and present high-quality meals to a consistently high standard.

• Assist with menu planning, food preparation and stock control.

• Supervise and support junior kitchen staff when required.

• Ensure food is prepared and served on time.

• Maintain high standards of food hygiene, health and safety.

• Ensure the kitchen is kept clean, organised and safe.

• Monitor food storage, stock rotation and wastage.

• Follow company procedures and food safety regulations.

• Work collaboratively with the wider catering team to ensure smooth kitchen operations.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar kitchen role.

• Strong cooking skills and knowledge of food preparation techniques.

• Good organisational and time-management skills.

• Knowledge of food hygiene and health and safety standards.

• Ability to work effectively under pressure in a busy kitchen.

• A positive attitude and a passion for producing quality food.

• A reliable, flexible and hands-on approach to work.
