You will need to hold a qualification in Medical Ultrasound and be competent to undertake an Ultrasound scan and report it independently. The minimum requirement is a Pg. Cert in Medical Ultrasound accredited by the Consortium for the Accreditation of Sonographic Education (CASE) or assessed for equivalence by the ultrasound management team.

HCPC, NMC or RCT registration is essential. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. As a large teaching organisation, we provide training for trainee sonographers and specialist registrars.

We collaborate with Sheffield Hallam University to provide world-class teaching, nurturing the next generation of sonographers, many of whom remain with us throughout their careers.

Applications from trainees nearing the end of their Ultrasound training or from qualified midwife sonographers are welcome.

Our expanding services seek enthusiastic, motivated band 7 sonographers to join our friendly, supportive team. We operate high-specification scanning equipment across three acute hospital sites—Leicester Royal Infirmary, Leicester General Hospital, and Glenfield Hospital—and five community hospitals. Our work includes general abdominal, small parts, gynaecological, MSK, HandN, DVT, vascular, paediatrics, and obstetrics (including early pregnancy scanning). We serve inpatients, outpatients, and GP referrals, conducting over 6,000 outpatient scans monthly, making us one of the UK''s largest Ultrasound providers.

The department supports personal development, offering training in DVT, MSK, Head and Neck, and paediatrics, with future opportunities in interventional ultrasound.

The successful candidate will be an autonomous practitioner, promoting best practices and high standards in the ultrasound department.

Our patients are central to our mission. We believe in providing the best possible experience through compassionate care.

Note: Due to the interview process, remote interviews are not available

Our strategy (2023-2030) focuses on four primary goals: high-quality care, being a great place to work, impactful partnerships, and excellence in research and education. We aim to embed health equality by actively reducing healthcare disparities through community partnerships.

Our values include compassion, pride, inclusiveness, and teamwork, guiding our efforts to make a meaningful difference.
