Come and join us on our journey of transformation as a Solutions Architect within Santander Services. You’ll work closely with other architecture teams, e.g., Enterprise, Technical, Data and Security Architecture and will collaborate with Business and IT colleagues in Santander UK, as well as Santander Global Architecture. The team concentrates on the functional architecture of applications and how they interact with other systems in the Architecture Landscape of Santander UK, Group and 3rd Parties. The team effectively works as an Architecture Community across domains sharing reusable patterns and solutions learnt on projects, independently of projects and domains.

The difference you’ll make

Providing essential services to Core Banking, as well as products for the bank to manage customers, accounts, pricing, transactions, etc. Core banking systems are crucial for the day-to-day operations of Santander, enabling us to serve our customers effectively

Producing functional architecture for project(s)

Reviewing the designs that have been produced by Engineering Teams using guidance and patterns that have been provided to them by Architecture

Validating that solutions align to the strategies of Santander UK (e.g. Retail and Corporate Bank and Group)

Working with the engineering community to deliver solutions primarily in an agile way

What you’ll bringThese are the essential requirements you need to be successful in this role:

Domain driven design, with working knowledge of the BIAN framework, TOGAF, ArchiMate

Proven experience in defining and documenting As-Is and Target Architecture, working with stakeholders to help define and deliver strategic objectives and roadmaps, being embedded into the functional domain, balancing business requirements with functional and technical strategy

Experience defining and evolving RESTful APIs following best practices for scalability, versioning and documentation

Experience with event-driven architectures

Expertise in authorisation and security protocols, secure architecture practices, threat modelling

Problem-Solving Skills and an effective approach to tackling complex challenges

Nice to have

Understanding and practical experience with C4 Model for software architecture documentation and Architecture tools (e.g., Avolution Abacus)

Knowledge and experience with cloud-native Architectures

Experience in Microservices and Container Architectures

Experience with event streaming platforms

What else you need to knowThis is a permanent role to be based at our Unity Place office, Milton Keynes.

We want our people to thrive at work and home and also be able to deliver the best outcomes for our customers and to help each other develop. To support this, we offer site-based contracts with a hybrid working pattern and our expected level of attendance in an office is at least 12 days per month (pro-rata for part-time roles).

60 min virtual interview covering a range of technical questions.

Eligible for a discretionary performance-related annual bonus.
