About The RoleBalfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Solution Architect to join our team working across the UK and offshore. Your experience and ideas will help change the way our industry works.We aim to upgrade our core systems purposefully and maximize productivity across the back office, while building digital solutions into resource and logistics management supported by financial, commercial, and procurement improvements. We seek energetic, knowledgeable, and passionate individuals to bridge our business and technical teams to achieve ambitious outcomes. You will have the flexibility to be based at any main office location and will be a key figure on projects like Sizewell C, HS2, CPS M25, and Smart Motorways.The role reports to the Lead Solution Architect, embedded with technical teams, and collaborates across IT and business units. The Strategy and Projects team includes Business Analysts, Solution Architects, and Project Managers.What you''ll be doingArchitecting, building, and maintaining cost-efficient, scalable solutions across multiple technology stacks, working with technical and project teams.Understanding business objectives and aligning solutions accordingly.Producing design outputs to support technical delivery and improve service levels.Communicating with stakeholders across business and technology domains to facilitate project delivery and produce high-standard designs and documentation.Supporting bidding and contract mobilization by demonstrating capabilities, thinking creatively about client needs, and developing narratives around digital innovation.Assisting in migrating legacy systems to the cloud for efficiency as part of our digital transformation.Addressing operational and cultural challenges of a mobile workforce requiring secure, 24/7 service access from corporate devices across the UK.Keeping abreast of best practices and recommending service improvements.Making hardware and software deployment recommendations, contributing to architecture strategies, peer reviewing, and developing long-term roadmaps.Who we''re looking forExperience designing, building, deploying, and maintaining business applications and infrastructure, considering cloud and other architectures.3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in solution design, with expertise in at least one of AWS, Microsoft Azure, O365, OCI, or GCP, along with relevant Professional Solutions Architect certifications.Experience delivering complex solutions in multi-supplier, multi-year, or multi-release environments is preferred.Additional knowledge or experience desired:Identity integration, SSO, MFA, and security policies.GDPR compliance and PII data management.Embedding security tools in solutions and protecting data from threats.API and middleware integration, analytics technologies.Automation, Infrastructure as Code, Service Orchestration.Networking principles, including NGFW, load balancers, routing, and service segregation.Client support activities for project planning and technology mobilization.Why work for usOur teams deliver some of the UKs most ambitious projects, developing vital infrastructure that supports the economy and communities.About UsAt Balfour Beatty, diversity and inclusion are core to our success.
