Software Test Engineer

Role Purpose
As a Software Release Tester, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of software applications and systems software through rigorous testing and configuration management. This role plays a vital part in maintaining Expleo''s reputation for quality by developing, executing, and automating test plans and ensuring optimal release configurations. This will be a contract role based in Gaydon.

Key Responsibilities
* Develop and execute test plans and scripts to identify software issues and ensure defect-free releases.
* Perform comprehensive workflow analysis to validate business and system processes.
* Document test results thoroughly, communicate issues effectively, and recommend improvements to enhance quality and user experience.
* Collaborate with Application Development and Systems Engineering teams to diagnose software defects and enhance product configurations.
* Conduct configuration management activities, including initial release control, version control, and ongoing change management for both new and existing modules.
* Automate test cases using scripting languages to streamline testing and improve coverage.
* Independently manage test-related projects and processes, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
* Coach and mentor junior QA professionals, providing guidance and support where necessary.
* Tackle complex testing problems with analytical thinking and innovative approaches.

Required Skills and Experience
* Bachelor''s or Master''s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
* 5+ years of experience in software testing, release management, or configuration analysis.
* Proficient in writing and executing test plans for both functional and non-functional requirements.
* Strong hands-on experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell, JavaScript) for test automation.
* Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and configuration management tools.
* Solid understanding of software development lifecycles (Agile, DevOps, etc.).
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
