Overview

Software Engineering Lead is wanted by a Global Insurance organisation to shape the future of software delivery across a Microsoft / Full Stack environment. This is a strategic, hands-off leadership role focused on modernising engineering practices, mentoring teams, and delivering secure, scalable solutions that power real business impact.Ideally you’ll come from a background of managing both internal engineering teams and third-party resources. Building strategic partnerships with suppliers to scale capabilities as needed. Taking responsibilities for driving standards and ensuring the latest technology and best practices are being used.What You’ll Do:

Lead the design and delivery of software engineering services across enterprise platforms.Manage third-party suppliers and flex resourcing to match business demand.Define engineering standards, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.Champion modern architecture – from APIs to microservices to cloud-native solutions.Build and mentor high-performing teams and foster a culture of innovation.Collaborate with product, infrastructure, and architecture teams to align on priorities.What You’ll Bring:

Proven experience leading software engineering teams in complex, regulated environments.Strong technical background with Microsoft stack, Azure DevOps, GitHub/GitLab.Ability to navigate legacy systems while driving modern engineering practices.Skilled in stakeholder engagement – from engineers to execs.This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-moving environment, has moved away from day-to-day coding but is still passionate about latest tech, best practices and wants to make a real difference.Package:
