We are seeking a Software Engineering Manager to join Thales UK, delivering software engineering management and software work package management across defence mission systems solutions.The role covers related activities of Software Engineering Management (SWEM) and Software Work Package Management (SWPM). Some travel to client sites and other Thales UK sites may be required.Location

Ensure relevant department/product/project management plans are kept up to date and governance is applied for products/projectsEnsure development is performed in accordance with these plansLiaise with project customers as requiredPlan, coordinate and monitor the performance of the work, identify and manage risks throughout the Work Package lifecycleCapture and monitor metrics for each stage of the project/product lifecycle and implement continuous improvement plansReview Engineering Forward Load with SWEM and Head of SW DeliveryContribute to bid activities regarding estimates, project scheduling and bid gate inputsDevelop professional knowledge in software, engineering and management and share learningsEngage in training, mentoring and feedback to develop skills and experienceEncourage innovation and adoption of new technologies and techniquesProvide support to less experienced team members and ensure adherence to proceduresLead by example using the Thales Leadership model to foster a high-performing cultureExperience

EssentialExperience in engineering project delivery across full project lifecycles with commercial awarenessKnowledge of agile methodologies and practicesExperience with configuration control and change managementExperience in requirements management, software design and developmentExperience in integration and verification activitiesExperience in risk managementExperience in bid management and estimation techniquesUnderstanding of current trends in software engineering and toolsetsExperience using industry-standard software engineering toolsetsBeneficialMore than 5 years of experience in a SW Delivery role managing deliveries from multiple development/integration teamsExperience managing multi-million pound SW Work PackagesExperience in multi-site/multi-country development within a complex stakeholder environmentExperience in SW subcontract managementExperience with Atlassian Jira, Windchill PLMQualifications
