Software Engineer - Linux Platform/Operating Systems Development with hands-on low-level software engineering role focused on Linux operating systems development, Linux distributions, open-source technologies, virtualisation, containers and the ongoing development of their internal Linux-based OS platform is required by a world-leading European secure video communications technology company within a highly engineering-led platform team. The role is open at Software Engineer and Senior Software Engineer level. Remote role within the UK or hybrid from Reading with occasional travel to Reading.Key skills required for the Software Engineer - Linux Platform/Operating Systems DevelopmentStrong experience with Linux operating systems, Linux distributions and operating system fundamentals.Experience maintaining, developing or extending Linux-based platforms or distributions.A proven track record of open-source contributions, ideally across Linux distributions, systems tooling, package management or platform-level projects.Solid low-level software engineering experience, with an understanding of how systems behave close to the OS layer, and Linux KernelExperience debugging software written in languages such as C, Python or RustGood knowledge of computer networking fundamentals.Experience using Python to automate system administration tasks on Linux-based platforms.Experience with virtualisation technologies such as VMware or KVM.Experience with containerisation technologies such as ..... full job details .....
