Caritas Recruitment is currently recruiting for an experienced Team Manager to join Thurrock Children''s Services on an interim basis. This is an excellent opportunity to lead and develop a frontline team within a well-established service committed to delivering positive outcomes for children, young people and families.
Based in Grays, Essex, the successful candidate will provide strong leadership, oversight and support to a team of social work professionals, ensuring high-quality practice, effective performance management and compliance with statutory responsibilities.


Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage a team delivering services to children and families across Children''s Social Care.
• Ensure safe, effective and child-centred practice in line with legislation, statutory guidance and local procedures.
• Provide regular supervision, case oversight and professional support to team members.
• Monitor and drive performance against service objectives, quality standards and key performance indicators.
• Oversee case allocation and ensure robust plans are in place for all children and families.
• Identify and manage high-risk, complex and high-profile cases within the service.
• Chair meetings and represent Children''s Services at multi-agency forums and partnership meetings.
• Support workforce development through coaching, mentoring and performance management.
• Contribute to service improvement initiatives and strategic developments across the department.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability and professional excellence.

Requirements:

• Social Work England Registration.
• Qualified Social Worker with substantial post-qualifying experience within Children''s Services.
• Previous experience as a Team Manager, Assistant Team Manager or Advanced Practitioner with supervisory responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, children in need and statutory social work practice.
• Experience managing performance, supervision and service delivery within a local authority setting.
• Excellent leadership, communication and decision-making skills.
