Social Worker - Child Protection Team

Role: Social Worker Child Protection Team Department: Children s Social Care, Middlesbrough Council Location: Middlesbrough Purpose of Role To safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people at risk of significant harm. To undertake statutory child protection investigations and assessments in line with legislation and council procedures. To ensure timely, effective interventions that protect children and support families. Key Responsibilities Carry out child protection enquiries under Section 47 of the Children Act 1989. Undertake assessments of children and families, identifying risks and protective factors. Develop and implement child protection plans in partnership with families and multi-agency professionals. Prepare clear, evidence-based reports for child protection conferences, court proceedings, and statutory reviews. Maintain accurate case records and ensure compliance with council policies and safeguarding standards. Work collaboratively with police, health, education, and voluntary sector partners to safeguard children. Essential Skills and Experience Qualified Social Worker with registration to Social Work England. Strong knowledge of child protection legislation, statutory guidance, and safeguarding procedures. Experience of working in child protection or statutory social work settings. Ability to manage complex caseloads and make sound professional judgments under pressure.
