Social Worker - Assessment Team
About the Role
Cambridgeshire County Council is looking for experienced Social Workers to join their fast-paced Assessment Team, supporting children, young people and families at the front door of services.
This is a dynamic and rewarding frontline role, where you will undertake timely assessments and deliver high-quality interventions to safeguard children and promote positive outcomes.
Working within Cambridgeshire''s Family Safeguarding model, you''ll take a strengths-based approach, building meaningful relationships with children and families and ensuring the voice of the child is central to all assessments and decision-making.
The work is fast-paced and varied, requiring confident decision-making within statutory timescales, while collaborating closely with multi-agency partners.
Hybrid: 2-3 days in the office
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake timely, high-quality assessments that identify need, risk and strengths
- Act as the lead professional, ensuring safeguarding concerns are managed effectively and in line with statutory guidance
- Build effective, empowering relationships with children, young people and families to drive positive change
- Ensure the voice and lived experience of the child informs all planning and interventions
- Produce clear, analytical and evidence-based reports, including for court and multi-agency forums
- Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to deliver coordinated and effective support
- Maintain accurate records in line with practice standards

Experience/Skills
- Hold a recognised Social Work qualification
- Are registered with Social Work England
- Have strong experience in assessment/frontline safeguarding services
- Can demonstrate robust analysis, decision-making and assessment skills
- Are confident managing risk, complexity and tight timescales
- Have excellent report writing and communication skills
- Are committed to anti-discriminatory and strengths-based practice
- Hold a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
