Social Work - Practice Supervisor job (Adults)

We are looking for an experienced and confident Social Worker / Practice Supervisor to join an Adult Social Care service based at the Abbey Centre in Abingdon.As Practice Supervisor, you will provide effective supervision and practice leadership to team members, supporting their professional development and helping to maintain high standards of adult social care practice. The role also involves holding a caseload and supporting complex casework using professional curiosity and judgement.

Your new role
You will work within relevant legislation, including the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Mental Health Act 1983, while promoting strength-based approaches focused on achieving positive outcomes for individuals.Key responsibilities

• Manage and supervise team members, supporting their professional development and practice.
• Undertake assessments, reviews and professional interventions and ensure support plans meet individual needs.
• Carry out safeguarding enquiries in accordance with the Care Act 2014 and local procedures.
• Hold a caseload while managing and supporting complex casework.
• Maintain and improve practice quality through case audits and supervision.
• Chair Best Interest meetings and safeguarding strategy meetings and act as Safeguarding Manager where required.
• Support timely allocation of work, duty functions, risk management and prioritisation.
• Support court applications and, where required, write or review court and mental health tribunal reports.

What you''ll need to succeed

• A recognised Social Work qualification and Social Work England registration.
• Experience of line management within a statutory or similar team environment.
• Extensive knowledge of legislation and statutory guidance relevant to Adult Social Care.
• Strong communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• The ability to remain adaptable and calm under pressure.
• A good understanding of risk management, budget management, confidentiality and data protection.

Experience of strength-based practice is desirable, alongside a Best Interest Assessor, Approved Mental Health Professional or Practice Educator qualification, or willingness to train.

Working arrangements
The role allows flexible working in line with the service''s Agile Working Policy. Candidates must be able to travel across Oxfordshire and work from different office locations when required. An Enhanced DBS with Barring List check is required.
