Working Hours: 45 hours per week, Monday - Friday with 1 in 4 Saturdays

Envar is a producer and supplier of high-quality soil improver, woodland garden mulch, wood chip and biomass. We operate green waste composting sites across England with sites in Surrey, Northamptonshire, West London, Essex, Kent and Suffolk as well as our flagship site in Cambridgeshire where we also process food waste. In addition to composting Envar also recycle coffee grounds.

About the role:

We''re currently looking for a Site Supervisor to help the Site Manager with day to day site operations of the West London Composting Facility including the transfer stations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise composting processes
• Monitor temperature, moisture, and aeration levels
• Ensure proper waste segregation and material handling
• Oversee equipment use (loaders, shredders, screeners)
• Oversee operation and basic maintenance of shredders, loaders, turners, screens, and other composting equipment.
• Coordinate repairs and preventive maintenance of site machinery
• Monitor fuel and supply usage.
• Assign daily tasks to workers
• Train staff on safety and operational procedures
• Maintain attendance and performance records
• Enforce PPE use and safety procedures
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and environmental regulations
• Manage odour, leachate, and pest control
• Conduct routine site inspections
• Inspect incoming organic waste
• Monitor compost maturity and quality standards
• Coordinate product screening and storage
• Inspect finished compost for quality standards (texture, odour, maturity).
• Ensure contamination-free final product.
• Maintain production logs
• Record temperatures and turning schedules
• Maintain daily logs of incoming materials and production output.
• Prepare reports on site performance, incidents, and compliance status
• Prepare reports for management or regulatory bodies

About you:

Essentials:

• Basic understanding of environmental regulations
• Leadership and team management skills
• Equipment operation knowledge
• Record-keeping and reporting skills
• The ability to organise and prioritise workload
• A flexible approach to working hours, ability to travel to other sites within the Envar Group (infrequent)
• Outdoor work in varying weather conditions
• Exposure to organic waste materials
• Requires physical activity and equipment handling
• Knowledge of machinery operations
• Staff management
• Strong ability to assess time it takes to perform a task

Desirable:

• IOSH, or willing to complete
• COTC, or willing to complete
