Role Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Working Site Supervisor with a strong carpentry or multi-trades background to help run our projects in the Luton area. This is a dual role: you will manage the day-to-day running of sites - programme, labour, subcontractors, materials, quality and health & safety - while also working on the tools to keep works moving. The ideal candidate is a skilled tradesperson who has stepped up into site supervision and is comfortable switching between supervising the site and delivering trade work first-hand.
Key Responsibilities
Site Supervision
- Supervise the day-to-day running of allocated sites to programme, budget and quality standards.
- Coordinate and supervise directly employed operatives and subcontractors, allocating labour and tasks daily.
- Plan and sequence works, order and manage materials, and keep the site running efficiently.
- Liaise with clients, residents, consultants and RPL office staff, providing regular progress updates.
- Maintain site records, daily diaries, progress photos and workforce/allocation records (RPL uses Connecteam for workforce allocation and communication).
- Identify and report variations, delays and additional works promptly.
Hands-on Trade Work
- Carry out carpentry and/or multi-trade works as required - first and second fix carpentry, fire-door installation and maintenance, general building, remedial and finishing works.
- Support the wider team on the tools to hit programme milestones and maintain momentum on site.
Health, Safety & Quality
Ensure works are carried out safely and in line with RPL''s RAMS, COSHH assessments and SafeContractor requirements.
Conduct site inductions, toolbox talks and regular safety checks.
Uphold RPL''s quality management standards, carrying out quality checks and snagging to ensure first-class handovers.
Ensure the site is clean, secure, tidy and compliant at all times.
Essential Requirements
Time-served carpenter or proven multi-trades operative with hands-on site experience.
Demonstrable experience supervising sites, labour and subcontractors.
Valid CSCS card (Supervisor/Manager level, valid SSSTS/SMSTS)
Current First Aid at Work certificate (or willingness to obtain).
Strong working knowledge of construction health & safety, RAMS and CDM responsibilities.
Ability to read and work from drawings and specifications.
Good organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
Self-motivated and able to run a site with minimal supervision.
Full UK driving licence and own reliable transport.
Own tools and appropriate PPE.
Self-employed status with valid UTR and CIS registration.

What We Offer
- Full-time, consistent work on a self-employed subcontractor (CIS) basis.
- Competitive day rate, dependent on experience.
- A varied workload across quality residential and public-sector projects.
