Site Manager – Groundworks & Civils

Location: Ashford, Kent
Start Date: 5th October 2026
Duration: 35 weeks

We are currently seeking an experienced Site Manager to join a major groundworks and civils project in Ashford, Kent, starting on 5th October for an initial 35-week contract.

The project involves the development of a large open storage yard, including approximately 100,000m² of concrete hardstanding, extensive drainage and associated groundworks and civils.

We are looking for a Site Manager with a strong groundworks/civils background who is confident managing site operations, subcontractors and health & safety on a large-scale project.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing day-to-day site operations, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme and to the required quality standards.

• Supervising groundworks, civils, drainage and concrete works.

• Managing subcontractors and site teams.

• Coordinating daily activities, labour, plant and materials.

• Monitoring progress against programme and reporting to the Project Manager.

• Ensuring works are carried out in accordance with RAMS and health & safety requirements.

• Maintaining high standards of site organisation, quality and compliance.

• Liaising with engineers, subcontractors and the wider project team.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Site Manager within groundworks and/or civil engineering.

• Strong understanding of groundworks, drainage and concrete hardstanding.

• Experience managing large-scale external works projects.

• SMSTS – essential.

• First Aid at Work – essential.

• Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.

• Ability to manage subcontractors and coordinate multiple site activities.
