Site Manager - Major Logistics & Distribution Centre

An established international main contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Site Manager to join the delivery team on a major logistics and distribution centre near Harlow.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a business with a strong pipeline of industrial and logistics projects, delivering a large-scale, technically challenging development for a globally recognised end client.

The Role

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will take responsibility for managing key packages of work, ensuring the project is delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

You will play a key role in coordinating subcontractors, driving programme performance and maintaining exceptional health and safety standards throughout construction.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day site operations across designated work packages.
• Coordinate subcontractors to ensure programme milestones are achieved.
• Monitor quality, programme and productivity across all activities.
• Ensure all works are delivered in accordance with drawings, specifications and company procedures.
• Lead daily briefings, subcontractor meetings and progress reviews.
• Carry out regular quality inspections and ensure timely close-out of defects.
• Oversee health, safety and environmental compliance, promoting a positive safety culture on site.
• Review and implement RAMS and safe systems of work.
• Liaise closely with the Project Manager, Design Team and Commercial Team to resolve technical and construction issues.
• Maintain accurate site records, progress reports and quality documentation.
• Support logistics planning and site coordination to ensure efficient project delivery.
• Assist with commissioning, client inspections and phased handovers.

About You

We''re looking for someone who has:

• Previous experience as a Site Manager working for a main contractor.
• Strong experience delivering industrial, logistics, distribution, commercial or large-scale construction projects.
• Excellent knowledge of structural works, external envelope and internal fit-out packages.
• Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple subcontractors.
• A proactive approach with excellent planning and organisational skills.
• Experience working within fast-paced construction programmes.

Essential Qualifications

• SMSTS
• CSCS Card
• First Aid at Work
• Relevant construction qualification (preferred)
