Site Manager

We are seeking an experienced Freelance Site Manager to oversee the delivery of heavy civils projects across a range of Canal and River Trust schemes. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and hands-on professional with a strong background in infrastructure, waterways, and complex civil engineering environments.You will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.Key Responsibilities- Manage day-to-day site operations on heavy civils projects, including structures, earthworks, and water-related infrastructure- Oversee works on Canal and River Trust schemes, ensuring compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and site teams- Ensure all health, safety, and environmental standards are met and maintained- Conduct site inspections, risk assessments, and toolbox talks- Monitor progress against programme and report to senior management- Maintain accurate site records, including RAMS, permits, and site diaries- Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and local authoritiesRequirements- Proven experience as a Site Manager on heavy civils projects- Previous involvement in Canal and River Trust or similar waterways/infrastructure schemes is highly desirable- Strong understanding of civil engineering methods, particularly within water environments- SMSTS (essential)- CSCS (Black/Gold Card preferred)- First Aid at Work- Temporary Works ..... full job details .....
