Site Manager / Groundworks

Location: Farnham

Salary: -40,000 - -45,000 DOE

Hours: Monday to Friday, full-time, permanent

Benefits: Long-term progression opportunity

Our client is a well-established and highly respected family-run swimming pool construction business based in Surrey, with over 35 years of experience in the industry. They specialise in the complete design, construction, refurbishment and servicing of swimming pools across Surrey and the surrounding areas.

Due to continued growth and the long-term development of the business, they are looking for an experienced, hands-on Site Manager / Groundworker to help in day-to-day operations and become a key figure in the business, with the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility as the owner gradually steps back from the day-to-day running of the business.

The business provides a full start-to-finish service, with projects covering excavation, structural construction, rendering, paving, landscaping and pool installation. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Groundworker, Builder or Plant Operative looking to develop specialist skills within the swimming pool industry and progress within an established family business.

Site Manager - Position Overview

  • Carry out groundwork and excavation works associated with swimming pool construction and refurbishment.
  • Operate mini diggers and other relevant plant and machinery.
  • Undertake general building works including block laying, rendering, paving and landscaping.
  • Assist with swimming pool installations, refurbishments, alterations and servicing.
  • Work closely with the business owner to ensure projects are completed to a high standard and within agreed timescales.
  • Liaise professionally with clients on site and represent the business to a high standard.
  • Assist with organising labour, materials, plant and equipment across projects.
  • Identify and resolve practical issues and contribute ideas to improve the business.
  • Take on increasing responsibility across projects and day-to-day operations as the business grows.

Site Manager - Position Requirements

  • Previous experience in groundworks, excavation, general building or a similar construction environment.
  • Mini digger experience desirable.
  • Practical experience in block laying, rendering, paving or landscaping.
  • Swimming pool experience desirable but not essential.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Well presented, personable and confident dealing directly with clients.
  • Strong practical and problem-solving skills.
  • Reliable, hardworking and conscientious, with pride in the quality of work produced.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a small, close-knit team.
  • Ambitious and keen to develop into a key role within the business.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for more than just their next job. The successful candidate will work closely with the owner, learn the business from the ground up and has the opportunity to become a key figure in the business, with genuine scope to take on significant responsibility and influence the future direction of the company.
