Site Manager / Caretaker Required - Welcoming Primary School, Edgbaston

We are seeking a reliable, proactive and experienced Site Manager / Caretaker to join a friendly and welcoming Primary School in Edgbaston, Birmingham from September 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity to become an integral part of a supportive school community where maintaining a safe, secure and well-presented learning environment is a priority. The school is looking for a dedicated individual who can take ownership of the site and ensure the premises are maintained to a high standard.

The role is full-time and long-term, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

As Site Manager / Caretaker, your duties will include:

• Opening and closing the school premises
• Ensuring the security of the school buildings and grounds
• Carrying out routine maintenance, repairs and DIY tasks
• Monitoring the condition of the site and reporting major repairs
• Supervising contractors and site visitors
• Conducting regular health and safety checks
• Maintaining school grounds and outdoor areas
• Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations
• Supporting with room setups and school events
• Responding promptly to maintenance and site-related issues

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will:

• Have previous experience as a School Site Manager, Caretaker, Premises Officer or similar role
• Ideally have experience working within a school environment
• Possess good practical maintenance and DIY skills
• Have a sound understanding of health and safety procedures
• Be organised, dependable and able to work independently
• Demonstrate excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one
