Site Manager – Gym Refurbishment

Rate: £250–£300 per day

A leading fit out and refurbishment contractor is currently looking for an experienced Site Manager to oversee an 8-week gym refurbishment project in Milton Keynes.

This is a hands-on Site Manager position where you will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the project, coordinating subcontractors, managing site activities and ensuring the works are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

The project is scheduled to commence in early September, with the successful candidate ideally appointed in advance to attend pre-start meetings and familiarise themselves with the project requirements.

The refurbishment will involve a full strip-out and fit out of an existing commercial space, including:

• Full strip-out and refurbishment works

• Installation of a new HVAC / air conditioning system

• Mezzanine flooring installation

• 13 concrete pad foundations

• Partitioning and dry lining

• Tiling and associated finishing works

• Coordination of multiple specialist subcontractors

• Maintaining high standards of site cleanliness and presentation

As Site Manager, you will be responsible for:

• Taking full responsibility for the day-to-day management of the site

• Coordinating and managing subcontractors and trades

• Planning and sequencing works to maintain programme

• Managing health & safety and ensuring site compliance

• Monitoring quality and workmanship

• Liaising with the Project Manager and wider project team

• Managing deliveries, materials and site logistics

• Ensuring the site remains clean, organised and professionally presented

• Attending pre-start meetings and assisting with project planning

• Identifying and resolving issues on site as they arise

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous experience as a Site Manager within fit out, refurbishment or construction

• A strong understanding of managing multiple trades and subcontractors

• Experience coordinating works such as mezzanines, HVAC, partitioning and finishing trades

• A trade background, ideally in carpentry or joinery

• Strong organisational and communication skills

• The ability to take ownership of a project and drive it through to completion

• A good understanding of health & safety and site management procedures

• Relevant site management qualifications, including SMSTS and First Aid

• CSCS certification

Previous leisure or gym refurbishment experience would be advantageous but is not essential. The key requirement is a strong all-round Site Manager who understands the complexities of a fast-paced refurbishment project and can confidently coordinate all elements of the works.

Typically 07:30 – 17:00, Monday to Friday, although some flexibility may be required depending on the programme and tasks being undertaken. Some specialist works may be scheduled for weekends, although this is not anticipated as standard.
