About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Site Installation Manager to join a leading company in the logistics and automation sector. Working with an industry leader with opportunity to progress within the wider group and across the sites within the UK
This is a key position within the engineering division, responsible for managing installation activities across customer sites throughout the UK. You will take ownership of site operations, ensuring installations are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with project requirements.
You’ll work closely with Project Managers, customers, contractors and engineering teams, playing a key role in ensuring projects progress smoothly and resolving issues as they arise.
The role will involve regular travel and periods away from home, with projects typically lasting around six months depending on location and requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate all contractors working on site.
- Liaise closely with Project Managers and understand project progress.
- Monitor installation activities and ensure projects remain on track.
- Act as a key point of contact for customers on site.
- Lead regular stand-up meetings and site communications.
- Identify and resolve installation and operational issues.
- Carry out safety audits and ensure compliance with health & safety procedures.
- Monitor and enforce company and site procedures.
- Produce weekly progress and site reports.
- Manage large installation teams, which can include up to 100 engineers during major installations.
- Help reduce reliance on contractors by developing and managing a dedicated installation resource.
- Support continuous improvement and efficient ways of working.
About You
We’re looking for someone with a strong engineering background who has experience managing installation activities within an engineering, automation, manufacturing or similar environment.
You’ll ideally have:
- Previous experience in a Site Installation Manager or similar site-based engineering role.
- A recognised engineering qualification or equivalent experience.
- Experience working within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of Health & Safety and CDM (Construction Design and Management) requirements.
- Experience managing contractors and engineering teams.
- The ability to understand project programmes, identify issues and drive solutions.
- Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
- A practical, hands-on approach to site management.
- An engineering mindset rather than a traditional construction-site background.
Experience within automation would be highly advantageous, although candidates from other relevant manufacturing or engineering environments will also be considered.
The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established organisation operating within the logistics and automation sector.
The business has a strong reputation for retaining its people, with very low staff turnover, and is continuing to invest in its site management capability.
There is also a clear opportunity for career development. High-performing Site Installation Managers can progress into more senior site installation roles, work with the Programme Management Office in Graz, or potentially move into Project Management.
Travel & Working Away
This is a UK-wide role and will require significant travel.
Projects typically last around six months, although this varies depending on location and project requirements. There will be periods where you are required to stay away from home, although depending on the project, you may be able to return home at weekends.
All accommodation and stay-away expenses are covered.
Package
- £58,000 basic salary
- Average earnings around £65,000
- Company car or £550 monthly car allowance
- 6% employer pension contribution
- Healthcare
- Life assurance
- Overtime paid at 1.5x
- All accommodation and stay-away expenses paid
If you’re an experienced engineering professional looking for a role where you can take ownership of major installation projects, manage large teams and develop towards project management, this could be an excellent next step.
