The Role
A Tier One highways contractor is looking for a Site Engineer or Surveying Site Engineer to join their team on the A66. This is a hands-on, site-based role suited to someone with a strong earthworks background who is confident with survey work and volume take-offs.
The A66 programme is delivering 25 miles of new dual carriageway across a 7-10 year programme, and this role sits within Scheme 3B, covering earthworks and drainage. While volumes on this section aren''t huge, the work is shaped by traffic management and logistics constraints, giving roughly three years of activity on this phase alone.
Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out survey work and volume take-offs across the earthworks and drainage package
- Quality checking, including compaction testing
- Inputting and tracking volume data
- Supporting the earthworks team as work ramps up over the coming weeks
- Working closely with the site team to ensure work is delivered to specification
What They''re Looking For
- A strong earthworks background is essential
- Comfortable and confident carrying out survey work and volume take-offs
- Experience with compaction testing and quality checking on earthworks/drainage schemes
- Happy to be predominantly site-based, with some paperwork but not a heavy admin load
- Someone who can hit the ground running as earthworks begin in the next 1-2 weeks
Working Pattern
- 8.5 - 12 hour shifts, Monday to Friday
