Job Description

Stridden Limited are recruiting for an experienced Site Engineer / Site Manager – Civils for a commercial project in Farnborough, Hampshire.

This is a hands-on role requiring someone with a strong civil engineering background who can confidently carry out all engineering and setting out duties, whilst also taking responsibility for the day-to-day management, planning, quality, safety and delivery of the works.

The successful candidate must be capable of taking ownership of the site and managing works from both an engineering and site management perspective.

Key Duties

Carry out all site engineering and setting out.

Set out drainage, ducting, foundations, concrete works, roads, kerbs and external works.

Check levels, coordinates, dimensions and construction drawings.

Produce and maintain accurate as-built information.

Manage site QA, ITPs, inspection records and quality documentation.

Ensure works are completed correctly and in accordance with drawings and specifications.

Manage the day-to-day delivery of works on site.

Plan and coordinate labour, plant, materials and subcontractors.

Plan upcoming works and forecast site requirements.

Monitor progress against the project programme.

Identify and report potential delays, risks and programme issues.

Monitor site costs and assist with variations, additional works and project records.

Work closely with the QS and commercial team.

Manage and coordinate subcontractors and site operatives.

Liaise directly with the client and attend progress and coordination meetings.

Take responsibility for site health & safety, including RAMS, briefings, inspections and site standards.

Coordinate temporary works where required.

Report progress, costs, risks and site requirements to the Contracts Manager / Project Manager.

Requirements

Applicants must have

Relevant Engineering qualification.

Strong site engineering and setting out experience.

Previous experience managing civil engineering and groundworks projects.

SMSTS – Essential.

Temporary Works Coordinator – Essential.

First Aid at Work – Essential.

Strong QA and quality documentation experience.

Good planning and programme management skills.

Good commercial awareness, including costs, variations and project records.

Experience dealing directly with clients.

Strong understanding of site health & safety.

Confident using total stations, GPS and other site engineering equipment.

Ability to read and understand drawings, specifications and construction information.

Experience with drainage, reinforced concrete, foundations, ducting, roads and external works.

Data centre experience would be advantageous but is not essential.

We are looking for someone who is hands-on, organised and capable of taking ownership of the engineering, quality, planning, safety and day-to-day running of the site.
